SEO for Trades Businesses – More Jobs From Your Region

When someone in your city searches “electrician near me” or “emergency heating repair”, Google and Google Maps decide who gets the call. I make sure it’s your business – with a website that gets found and a business profile that brings enquiries.

Who SEO is worthwhile for at a trades business

Consequence: portals can stay one building block, but the goal is growing independence from them. viktorpasztor.de · SEO for trades businesses
Portals cost money per enquiry and often share it with competitors – your own Google visibility belongs to your business.

Trades businesses usually come to me with one of these starting positions: a newly founded or newly taken-over business that still needs to build visibility; a fluctuating order book, sometimes full, sometimes thin; a dependency on portals and brokers that charge commission and sell the same enquiry to several competitors; an outdated website that’s barely usable on mobile; or invisibility in Google Maps despite years of local work.

What your business gets out of it

01

Visibility in the map pack

Visibility in the map pack and in search results for your trade and your catchment area.

02

A well-maintained business profile

Categories, services, photos, posts and answered reviews – properly maintained instead of half filled in.

03

Real reviews

A steady flow of real reviews – built cleanly, never bought.

04

A working enquiry path

Call, form or appointment request in a few clicks – with technology and load time that still works on a building site.

Word of mouth, portals, and what SEO really delivers

“My jobs come through word of mouth and portals” – word of mouth is the best channel there is, it’s just not plannable. And portals work as long as you pay: every enquiry costs, and your competitor often gets the same one. Your own visibility on Google, by contrast, belongs to you. Once built, it brings enquiries you pay no commission on. Referred customers google you too, by the way – a well-maintained profile with good reviews is what turns that referral into the call.

“For trades businesses, the Google Business Profile is often the strongest lever – and at the same time the thing that gets neglected the most. Half filled in, old photos, no answers to reviews. Anyone who maintains it consistently already stands out clearly from the competition in many regions, before anything has even happened on the website.” — Viktor Pásztor

FAQ

I only work within a 30-kilometre radius – is SEO even worthwhile then?

Especially then. Local searches are your playing field: for “trade + place”, Google preferentially shows nearby businesses. You’re not competing with all of Germany, just with the businesses in your catchment area – and the gap there is often smaller than you think.

How much do I have to do myself?

A little, but not nothing. Photos from job sites, brief answers to technical questions, and asking for reviews after a job – that comes from you. I take care of the rest.

How do I honestly get more reviews?

By asking at the right moment. Right after handover, when the customer is satisfied, with a direct link to the review form. I set up the process for you. Bought reviews are off limits – they’re not permitted, and fake reviews that get discovered cost more trust than they ever brought.

Isn’t a listing on the well-known portals enough?

Portals can be one building block, especially at the start. But they remain rented visibility: the portal controls terms, ranking and the contact data of enquiries. Your own rankings and a strong business profile build you a channel nobody can cancel on you.
