SEO Content Strategy: Topical Authority Instead of a Text Graveyard
You don’t need ten more blog posts. You need a plan that defines which pages your website needs at all, how they connect and in what order they get created. That’s exactly what a content strategy is: the blueprint before the writing.
What topical authority means
Google trusts a website more on a topic when it covers it in breadth and depth — as a coherent cluster instead of a collection of isolated texts. I cluster topics by search intent, not just keyword similarity, and build the architecture from it: pillar pages for the core topics, subpages for depth, internal linking as the load-bearing scaffold.
What you get
Prioritised editorial plan
All the pages and texts your website needs — with page type, target keyword and search intent.
Cluster architecture
Which pillar pages carry your core topics and which subpages deepen them.
Planned internal linking
The linking that holds the cluster together and shows Google the structure.
Prioritisation by impact
Which pages take effect fastest and which build authority long-term.
“We already publish blog posts regularly — why do we need a strategy now?”
That’s exactly why. Publishing regularly is diligence, not strategy. Without a plan, experience shows two problems arise at once: texts that overlap topically and fight each other for the rankings — and gaps your competitors occupy. A content strategy doesn’t make your previous work worthless. It sorts it: existing articles get a place in the cluster, duplicates get merged.
“The most common find when I open a new client’s blog: three articles on practically the same topic, all solidly written, none ranking. Not because the texts are bad — but because nobody ever defined which page is responsible for which keyword. That decision is the actual strategy. The writing comes after.”
— Viktor Pásztor, SEO freelancer
The content strategy is the connecting piece in my offer: it builds on the keyword research and defines what gets written afterwards — the production of individual texts is covered under SEO copywriting. What working together costs overall is listed under SEO costs. And you can read who’s behind all this under about me.
Concrete numbers, not “price on request”.
A content strategy is a one-off strategic project billed by effort at €100 per hour — I estimate the scope bindingly after the initial consultation, since it depends on the size of your website and your topic field.
- Topic field: Larger and more complex topic fields mean more research and clustering work.
- Implementation optional: If you’d like me to implement the editorial plan afterwards, that happens within ongoing support from €1,000 per month.
- Final prices: My prices are final prices — €100 means €100.
Signs you’re missing a content strategy
Traffic barely moves despite blogging
You’ve been publishing blog posts for years, but organic traffic is stagnating.
Texts competing against each other
Your content overlaps topically and fights over the same rankings in Google.
Budget without justification
There’s a content budget, but nobody can justify which text comes next — and why.
Competitors covering more ground
Competitors with weaker individual texts rank above you because they cover their topic in more breadth and depth.
Content strategy FAQ
What does topical authority mean?
Topical authority describes the trust Google places in a website on a topic. It arises when a website covers a topic in breadth and depth — with a cluster of coherent, internally linked pages instead of isolated texts. A content strategy plans exactly this cluster before the first text is written.
How does a content strategy differ from SEO copywriting?
The strategy decides before the writing which topic clusters should exist, how pillar pages and subpages connect, and which search intents must be covered. SEO copywriting is the implementation afterwards — the ongoing production of individual pages. One is the blueprint, the other the construction.
How long does a strategy project take?
That depends on the scope of your topic field and your website’s existing content. After the free initial consultation, I’ll give you a binding effort estimate in hours. Typically, kick-off to finished editorial plan spans a manageable few weeks, not months.
Do I have to have you write the texts afterwards?
No. The editorial plan is built so any in-house editorial team or external copywriter can work with it — every row includes page type, target keyword, search intent and linking specifications. If you’d rather hand off the implementation, I’m happy to take it on within ongoing support.
